The Doing Sociology team interviewed Dr. Shubhangi Vaidya. She is with the School of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies at IGNOU. She has researched and written in the areas of disability and gender and is the author of two books: Autism and the Family in Urban India: Looking back, looking forward ( Springer, 2016) and Embodying Motherhood: Perspectives from Contemporary India ( Sage- Yoda Press 2016) co authored with Anu Aneja. Her latest publication is ‘Disorder, Disability Difference: (Re)presenting Autism in India’ in Disability Studies in India: Interdisciplinary Perspectives edited by Nilika Mehrotra (Springer, 2020). We spoke to her on understanding disability, its intersection with the social and the personal and much more.
