Usha Raman is a Professor in the Department of Communication, University of Hyderabad, where she teaches and researches in the areas of digital cultures, science and health communication, feminist media studies, and children and media. Apart from four co-edited books, a textbook on writing, and over 50 journal articles and book chapters, her recent work includes the co-authored volume Digital Expressions of the Self(ie): The Social Life of Selfies in India (Routledge, 2024), and a novel, Polite Conversations (BEE Books, 2024). She served as Vice-President of the International Association for Media and Communication Research from 2020 to 2024 and is co-founder of FemLab, a feminist academic-activist collaboration on the future of women’s work.
