Doing Sociology interviewed Dr. Gaurav J. Pathania who is an adjunct professor in the Department of Sociology at Georgetown University, Washington DC. We interviewed him on campus politics in Indian universities, the transformations over the years, and the centrality of class and caste within it.

About the Speaker: Gaurav J. Pathania teaches Sociology at Georgetown University in Washington DC. He has taught Social Movements at George Washington University and served as a visiting scholar to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Southern California. His current research in cultural sociology critically examines contemporary identity movements in India and among the diaspora. He has authored the book The University as a Site of Resistance: Identity and Student Politics (Oxford University Press, 2018). He is currently an assistant editor of South Asia Research, published from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
