Jelle J.P. Wouters is a social anthropologist and associate professor at Royal Thimphu College, Bhutan. He studied Anthropology in Amsterdam, Oxford, and Shillong, and taught at the Universities of Sikkim and Eberhard-Karls University in Germany prior to joining Royal Thimphu College in 2015. He is the author of In the Shadows of Naga Insurgency (OUP, 2018), Nagas as a Society Against Voting and Other Essays (Highlander, 2020) and Vernacular Politics in Northeast India (OUP 2022). He is the co-editor of The Routledge Handbook of Highland Asia (Routledge, 2022), The Routledge Companion to Northeast India (Routledge, 2022) and the co-author of Subaltern Studies 2.0: Being Against the Capitalocene (Chicago, 2022).
