Patricia Hill Collins is Distinguished University Professor of Sociology Emerita at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is an internationally recognized social theorist whose scholarship examines black feminisms, power, and the intersections of race, gender, social class, sexuality and nation. She has authored or edited numerous award-winning books, including Black Feminist Thought, Intersectionality as Critical Social Theory, and, most recently, Lethal Intersections. Her dozens of academic publications can be found in highly regarded journals such as the Annual Review of Sociology, American Sociological Review, and Ethnic and Racial Studies. Dr. Collins served as the 100th President of the American Sociological Association (ASA) in 2009.
